Well, now that that's done...

Wanna know what's been on my mind?

H1N1.

Thank God for Saturday! Last week was like the peak of my career, stress level wise. Within 3 days, an event venue was changed, new consent forms & health declaration forms had to be sent, signed, returned with 60% of my students not in school, 30% being uncontactable and transport had to be arranged. Now that the day's passed, thank God we all came out of it H1N1 free and had a blast of a time doing it! Haha!

The kids really had fun. They learnt about 5 cool magic tricks with rubberbands and cups and paper balls and tissue paper. They learnt how to make a ball disappear only to reappear out their nose when they fake sneeze.

TCC's IGNYTE youths did a great job on the Life Concert! Applause applause! It was quite entertaining! Must say after a long stressful day, it was great to release the stress after at KTV with my d'Klub volunteers and end the night with the show and supper@85! What a day really... :)

Can you believe that June will be over on Wednesday?! Time is passing faster than I would like it. NUS is already sending me emails about next Sem. *NOOOO.....!!!!* Haha I should start reading up again on my text. Let's set a date for Wednesday.

Oh and if you don't already know, I'm taking Hip Hop lessons at Jitterbugs Swingapore. No, there will be no show by moi. Taking dance was purely for self-care & interest so it's personal. Wahaha! The class is called Grrrrl Power!, 8 weeks. Which started off, in my view, not-so-cool but will end tmr, really cool. Yep. Last class tmr. Thinking of signing up again... as much as I would like to change the dance to Salsa but... timing doesn't seem right. Guess its Grrrl Power again!

Stay Flu free. Peace out YO!!

24

I didn't think turning 24 was a big deal. In tradition, a simple birthday dinner with family and that's it. But today, tonight was special!

For one it was all the encouraging messages via sms, msn and FB and phone call by Yilan all the way from US!! Really a pleasant surprise! :)

Next was the fact that my parents went all out to prepare a wonderful meal and bought a really cute cheese cake which tasted de-lish!! All the people I love & care most, sat round the table and ate to our hearts content!

Then came the night surprise. It touched my heart to know that this wonderful group of people who have a passion for d'Klub and the kids ... these d'Klub old timers who have volunteered since before I joined CCSS and just gotten to really know them, have put up with my learning curve, orientated & guided me, and made d'Klub really fun and fulfilling, bothered to take time to plan a surprise and pull it off flawlessly, waiting at my lift lobby with flowers and cake. I'm truly truly blessed. Thanks guys for being such wonderful volunteers and most importantly, great friends!

"4 I always thank God for you. I thank him because of the grace he has given to you who belong to Christ Jesus. 5 You have been blessed in every way because of him. "

In the Dark.

Watching a child sleep, can surprisingly be very therapeutic for both parties. I decided to take on nap time duty today. So equipped with my laptop, I chose a cosy corner, turned on soft beautiful Mozart pieces and watched the children sleep in the dark.

Occasionally you'll have the restless few but the majority sleeps so soundly. Angelic faces. Yes, even the naughty ones look angelic while asleep haha!

As I watched, I thought about the dreams they could be having. Each one of them, happy dreams, amazing dreams of love, future ambitions, restored family relationships, pets, playgrounds, favourite past-times, a fairytale world... the list goes on.

God, are you giving them dreams of the great plans you have in store for them in the future?

11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Rise and Shine.

Today marks the beginning of many early (before sunrise) days. This only means ONE thing.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS!!!

Yay to shift work!! Haha!

On June 1st, SJ will wake up at 6am to get ready for CamPositive 2009 in Changi by 745am! Going there with open eyes, open mind, open open everything. I'm doing this for my practicum and to 'expose' myself to youth culture for a day. Possibly future work with youth? We'll see.

A bit about the camp? Objective: The camp aims to help students (i.e. Youths) develop in different areas through experiential learning. With interactive games and activities, the camp hopes to:
  • Help students embrace a positive attitude when they meet obstacles
  • Help students to increase their sense of self awareness and to gain a healthy self esteem
  • Help students realize their strengths and increase their confidence
