Dear Cobb Residents,
As many of you know, there was a fire alarm early this morning at approximately 2:45 AM. Upon our initial inquiry it appears that this alarm was due to an act of vandalism. The police noted that a fire extinguisher was pulled from its harness and sprayed near the elevator of the first floor. Our staff also noticed vandalism to one the building's bulletin boards.
We DO NOT take these actions lightly. The alarm resulted in numerous offices being contacted. Campus police and fire needed to respond to the scene due to a student prank at 3 AM. Emergency maintenance needed to respond in order to clean the slippery mess made in the lobby. The elevator company needed to be contacted in order to reactivate the elevator. Because of the actions of a few individuals, valuable time and money needed to be spent unnecessarily. The safety and security of our residents are the number one priority of the Cobb Staff. We also want to have an environment conducive to studying. The alarm disrupted valuable sleep and study time. One resident even was inconvenienced due to the elevator not working due to having her foot in a cast.
If anyone else has any information about this situation please contact your RA or come to the Community Desk. Please know that a few witnesses have reported the behavior of a couple of individuals, and we are in the process of investigating this matter. If you are found to be guilty please know that you can loose your housing contract. Your actions were highly disrespectful to our residents and emergency staff. We encourage you to do the right thing and report your actions.
- Cobb
